Alright, so it's finally done! After a lot of (internal) testing and a lot of fixed bugs we have finally brought you the beta version of Revision Demo 1.3.1.

This version won't contain any new maps, but we've added some suggestions and made some alterations to the previous maps in addition to all the bugs we've fixed. Now the beta version will hit our core of volunteer testers to be pounded upon some more to iron our all the flaws.

The full version of the mod is also on track for a late 2013 release!

If you want to volunteer and haven't been contacted already just send me an e-mail at -email-.

Happy New Year!

Posted by Bjorn  on 31 Dec : 19:14  Category: Revision

Happy New Year everyone!

I think a short update is in order to explain the current situation and why we didn't make the Christmas deadline.

Basically both me and Trasher had a bit too much to do with school and work respectively and at the same time we overestimated the amount of work that was left to do. The amount of work also increased when we decided to implement rain for Liberty Island and for Battery Park.

In addition to all the things on our To-Do list we also wanted to test all the levels properly to avoid bugs we've not seen before, that might have been introduced since the latest release. That's why, hopefully in a few days, we will release a closed beta for some of our fans to help us test all the levels out.

What's left now until release are a few things that have to do with rain in Liberty Island and Battery Park, one bsp hole that will not go away, fix the item spawn in JC's office for Shifter and finally to copy some bushes and trees from the first Liberty Island and Battery Park missions to the later maps.

Cathedral finished!

Posted by Trasher  on 14 Nov : 19:58  Category: Revision

Hello!

Today, we're proud to announce that we have successfully finished working with the Paris levels. It took us 1 and a half year to finish it but trust us on this one, it was worth the wait. As you have probably seen from the screenshots we've posted earlier, the levels hardly look like they used to be. Same applies to our latest work, the cathedral. This map was probably the most challenging of all the levels we've worked with. We decided to stick with the vanilla cathedral building since it ain't so bad actually. It's only lacking a bit of detail. One of the things that made it look so boring in vanilla was the area around it. Depressing stone walls all around it. There wasn't much space to walk around it freely. Well that's in the past. Now you can have a nice walk in the park and stare at the cathedral in all its glory. Almost as if you really were in Notre Dame, well almost. One of the most difficult thing was the limitations of the engine. This level is pushed to the limits so much that there is no space for any kind of additions to add, or it will break things. Now you might think does the it even work correctly now? Well, yes it does. It works like a charm. So if you ever want to pick up the map to play around with the editor, we've warned you already.

The actual cathedral is not the only thing we've worked with. We have built a small town next to it where you start off. From there you'll have to make your way to cathedral through bots and commandos. Due to strict security a good strategy is the key factor here. It won't be easy - but not impossible either. A non-lethal way is also included, but will you be able to figure it out?

Let's take a look at the screenshots, shall we?

That's all the screenshots for now. Hope you enjoyed them!

Currently we're working on the upcoming 1.3.1 demo, which will only be a bug fix release. Meaning that there won't be any new levels included such as the Paris maps. If you want more details about the release head to previous article.

Thank you for stopping by.

Next release for Christmas

Posted by Bjorn  on 08 Nov : 18:42  Category: Revision

We are happy to announce that the next version of Revision will come out for Christmas!

Revision Demo 1.3.1 will not contain new maps, unfortunately, and focuses entirely on improving the currently released maps to fix bugs and to address suggestions.

Main features of the next release:

  • Full support for Shifter, Hardcore Dx and Biomod.
  • Added a lot of suggestions, like baton on Liberty Island and prod charger in NYC.
  • Added rain for the first Battery Park level.
  • Improved skyzone for some of the maps.
  • Restored NYC sewers for the later chapters.
  • A lot of bugs fixes (details in the changelog)

There are only a few things left to do, but since school is eating up my time, things are going slow. Hopefully we will meet the deadline, if nothing major happens.

Here are some screenshots, enjoy!

9 down, 1 to go!

Posted by Trasher  on 01 Oct : 20:48  Category: Revision

Hello fellow visitors and members!

Today, we have great news to share with you. As the title sums it all up, we are almost done with Paris levels! The only map now that needs to get 'Revisioned' is the Cathedral. We have great plans for this level, so keep an eye on the site for more information of it to be posted later.

Now, as you may have noticed from the progress page, we've been working on the Champs Elysees past few weeks. This map was huge in the original version. Lot's of empty wide areas everywhere. In fact this isn't the case with the real Champs Elysees where the streets are compact and narrow. We wanted to make the level look much more realistic, so something drastic had to be done. We had to build the level from scratch because fixing the original one would've taken a lot more time. However, we did include some of the original content in the map such as the Hotel for example which also got a nice facelift. Ôverall the level is smaller than the original but far more rich and much more enjoyable. We have also included another awesome feature: Rain. Yes, that's right. We now have also rain in some of the levels in Revision. Due to popular request we decided to add it there. Here are a couple of screenshots from the level:

It's quite different from the original don't you think?

Alright, that's all about Champs Elysees. But that's not all yet. We have also made some small changes to Chateau. Not as big as in these street maps, but these make the level look remarkably better. For starters, the original map isn't really that bad. It's just lacking something that makes the chateau look good and I think we succeeded in doing that:

With small changed to architechture and a few more trees and bushes here and there does miracles. Interior is pretty much the same. We have added some paitings and more decorations to fill up the empty hallways. Basic stuff.

That's about it. Thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for another update!

It's time to break the silence!

Posted by Trasher  on 01 Aug : 17:28  Category: Revision

Hello there!

Phew! It sure has been a while since the last update from us. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes. For starters, we have acquired another level designer to our team, Henry. He has been assigned to take care of the maps you have seen in Demo 1.3. As you may know, we want to give a fresh feel to every one who plays Revision. That includes all you people who have been playing since the very early version. We want to give a fresh feel to all you Revision 'vets' as well. Currently Henry is improving the Unatco HQ level. These improvemets are the offices of the primary characters such as Alex, Manderley, Anna, and so on. I managed to sneak in the HQ and took a few photos:

These enhancements were truly welcome as the original ones didn't quite match up fully with the characters.
That's all about Unatco for now. There will be more to come as Henry progresses further.

Now let's talk a few words about Paris. There never was a Denfert Rochereau Part 2, so consider this to be it. Thing is, we did update the Moddb profile with the last update, but it didnt arrive here for some reason or another. But yeah, we did finish Denfert Rochereau back in April.

Few things about it:

Overall it's not an enormous level, for example it's smaller than Hell's Kitchen, but! Far more detailed. However the level could've been a couple streets bigger(that was the original plan) but we've hit a rock that we cannot get through. Meaning that we're pushing the editors limits as close to the border as possible. Actually, we ran into these limitation problems when the level was 75% complete. So, we had to make some splitting. Basically the entire level have been split into 3 parts.

First, we have the level start, where Jock drops you off. This part consist the side quest which is given to you by that creepy lady where you have to get rid of the griesels for her. That whole area is a map of its own. Then we have the streets of course which you've seen from the screenshots. You can walk freely around the streets without loadings. Last but not least, the closed metro station with the other side quest that is given to you by the arms dealer(you're told to get rid of the MJ12 troopers in the station). To sum it all up: Side quests have their own level while the primary quest is in the street map. It's a little hard to explain but if you didnt catch the point just drop a question or two down the comment section and we'll try explain it better to you.

Few screenshots from the level:

That's all about the street area. For more screenshots, head to our Moddb page.

Last but not least: The locked-down metrostation area. Of course there had to be major improvements made here since original was really crappy. Especially that 'mall' area. We've done ridiculous amount of work for this small map. Map itself is weighed around 16 megabytes which is quite large in Deus Ex's standards. It's even bigger than the other metro station(in sizes). We have made a few comparison pictures for you to look at. See how much the level has changed:

Quite a change isn't it? Hardly looks like the same area it used to be.

That's all we have for you to share. We have started working on the next Paris map. For more information about it, keep an eye on the site as there will be an update coming. In the mean time if you have any questions or suggestions or anything - just post a message down the comment section or in the forums. Any kind of feedback is welcome!

ATTENTION! Security update!

Posted by Trasher  on 10 Apr : 19:16  Category: Website

Greetings visitors and members.

If you haven't already noticed, we have installed a new plugin: eCaptcha which means that you are now required to put correct letters each time you log in or when you sign up on the site. Reason for this is the increased amount of spam bots. Entering the code can be a little tricky sometimes but it's not a mission impossible. I hate this thing too but we really have no choice.

Thank you for your understanding.

Progress: Denfert Rochereau Part 1

Posted by Trasher  on 01 Apr : 23:22  Category: Revision

Hello fellow followers!

Great news for you as always. Revision is progressing well and nothing cant stop us from making Paris as good as it deserves to be. During the past few weeks we've been working on the Denfert Rochereau level. If that name doesnt ring a bell then let me give you a hint: It's the first map in Paris you get to play. As usual, we have expanded the level quite a bit using real pictures once again for reference, of course we cannot fully copy the real location due to certain limits of the engine, but the map now has some relation to the real world location. There's also going to be a change in the resistance. We're gonna make it really look like the city is under martial law. This doesnt mean that there will be massive amount of MJ12 roaming the streets however sneaking will take a bigger role here. How 'bout some screenshots now?

Note that these screenshots are still wip.

That's enough for now. We don't wanna show you too much yet. Need to leave something for the next update hehe.
Part 2 coming within a few weeks. Be sure to check it out!
